How to Make Spicy Creamy Garlic Shrimp Pasta

Spicy Creamy Garlic Shrimp Pasta. A very quick and easy weekday meal that you can have on the table in about 20 minutes. Ideal for last-minute dinner guests.

A very quick and easy weekday meal that you can have on the table in about 20 minutes. Ideal for last-minute dinner guests.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to season
  • ½ cup small diced red pepper, or roasted red pepper
  • ¼ cup white wine (seafood, vegetable, or chicken stock can be substituted)
  • 3 tsp crushed chili paste, (optional or to taste; 1 tsp chili flakes can also be substituted)
  • 3 tbsp chopped fresh basil or Italian parsley
  • 1 ½ cups whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Lightly sauté the garlic in the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and sauté for only about 3 minutes.
  3. Remove the shrimp from the pan and add the white wine.
  4. Reduce the white wine to about half before adding the chili paste, red pepper, and cream.
  5. Simmer the sauce for a couple of minutes until the cream begins to thicken slightly.
  6. Add the shrimp back to the pan along with the chopped herbs and simmer only for an additional minute or so before serving over your favorite pasta, couscous or rice.

Notes

If you are not a fan of spicy food, you can easily omit the chili paste and substitute a tablespoon or so of Dijon mustard to the sauce instead for an equally good dish without the kick.
